Colorado College Sunrise Movement Climate March

This year I started college at Colorado College and joined the Colorado Springs Sunrise Movement run by Colorado College students. I have jumped right into working with this club and am already the Action Coordinator. The first event I helped plan and execute this year with Sunrise was a Climate March to Senator Hickenlooper's Colorado Springs office to demand that he support a fully-funded Civilian Climate Corps.

"The Civilian Climate Corps is a visionary policy that would create a government jobs program putting a new generation of Americans to work combatting the climate crisis.

More specifically, it’s a program organized through the Department of the Interior and Agriculture and aims to “conserve and restore public lands and waters, bolster community resilience, increase reforestation, increase carbon sequestration in the agricultural sector, protect biodiversity, improve access to recreation, and address the changing climate.” - Sunrise Movement

I truly enjoyed planning and participating in this march as it was incredible connecting with the Colorado Sprints community and working with my peers to make an effort to make a difference and display our passion for climate action.
